Here are some great destinations to explore along the way. Along I-20 West (1 hour from Augusta, 1 hour, 30 minutes from Atlanta) Named for former U.S. senator, Crawfordville may be one of the most filmed cities in Georgia. It’s home to 13 movies made in Georgia: “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Get Low” and “Pushing Up Daisies” among them. When you visit downtown Crawfordville, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back into the early 1900s. The museum at A.H. Stephens State Park has one of the finest collections of Civil War Artifacts in Georgia, and there are 21 miles of trails to explore on horseback.

Charlotte City Councilmember James Mitchell Jr Announces Resignation

Councilmember James “Smuggie” Mitchell Jr. announced his resignation from the Charlotte City Council Monday morning, according to officials. The resignation goes into effect 5 p.m. Monday. The initial announcement of the resignation was made on social media by Mayor Pro Tem Julie Eiselt. “His experience and service to the city of Charlotte will be missed,” Eiselt said. Councilmemver James Mitchell has resigned effective 5:00pm today. His experience and service to the city of Charlotte will be missed! The councilman was serving his third term as an at-large council member. He previously served from 1999 to 2013 as the District Two representative.
