63-year-old driver killed in rollover crash in Washtenaw County Updated Mar 04, 2021; WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a 63-year-old man in Northfield Township. Northfield Township police responded at 6:44 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, to the rollover crash on North Territorial Road, east of Spencer Road, involving a pickup, according to William Wagner, the township’s director of public safety. The vehicle had hit a tree and was on its roof and on fire when police arrived, Wagner said. Police discovered the deceased man in the truck after the fire was extinguished, Wagner said. The victim’s name is not being released at this time. An investigation into the crash continues as police wait on autopsy and toxicology reports, Wagner said.

January 14, 2021 By Jessica Mathews / news@whmi.com Some Green Oak Township residents have weighed in on the 2021 – 2025 Parks, Recreation & Trails Master Plan – with a large emphasis on trails. The plan articulates the vision for parks and recreation in the township and aims to guide recreation planning and development efforts over the next five-year period. The township board met virtually Wednesday night and adopted the plan following a public hearing in which four people spoke, commending the township for its efforts – especially when it comes to continuing trail development and connections. A review and comment period has been underway and a survey was conducted. The plan has been on file at the township, links were included in a survey and it was available on the township website. It was noted that the township initially had two letters related to trails but then received an additional 12 letters of support for continuing t

Yesterday I was horrified by what I heard from the 45th President of the United States, and even more horrified about what happened after that at the United States Capitol. This morning I am just, simply put, outraged. Subscribe I served nearly 25 years in the US Navy, including four combat tours. The actions I saw yesterday in the District of Columbia reminded me of the fledgling governments I saw get created in Bosnia, Kosovo, North Macedonia (formerly FYROM), and Iraq. I have been a very proud Republican for many years. From elections held in Pennsylvania in 1982 through to today, I have voted in every election I have been eligible to do from here at home and while stationed across the globe. I have been dealing with severe internal strife about how to handle my party affiliation today. Quite possibly, the easy answer is just to resign and become independent. WHMI 93.5 Local News : Northfield Township Holding Parks & Rec Master Plan Public Hearing

December 31, 2020 By Mike Kruzman / news@whmi.com Northfield Township residents are being invited to participate in a public hearing and share their thoughts on a new draft recreation master plan. When completed, it will serve as a guide for the acquisition and development of community recreation facilities and programs over the next half-decade. A current recreation master plan is needed by February 1st in order for the township to be eligible for grants from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The proposed plan is available for viewing on Northfield Township’s website and provides early community driven goals and priorities.
