Bailey King Presented with HPU s 2021 Haverty Cup | Furniture World Magazine

Furniture World News King, from Cary, North Carolina, is the winner of the 2021 HPU Haverty Cup. Bailey King, a Class of 2021 High Point University graduate, has been honored as the 2021 recipient of the Haverty Cup.   The Haverty Cup was established in 1988 by the late Rawson Haverty to honor annually an outstanding graduating senior in one of the home furnishings related programs at High Point University. This tribute was created to encourage students to pursue a career in the home furnishings industry. King was presented the award by Scott Miles, Havertys’ senior vice president of stores and western regional manager.    King received a $3,000 award and a personal replica of the Haverty Cup. Her name will be engraved on the base of the Haverty Cup, which is on permanent display in the library of Norton Hall on HPU’s campus. At HPU, King was an outstanding student. Worcester retirement home brings in exciting visitors for their residents

A RETIREMENT home has found new ways to engage their residents during the pandemic. Norton Hall’s activity coordinators have been arranging for visitors of all shapes and sizes to bring some joy to the pensioners staying with them. Eric Marshall, co-owner of the care facility in Norton, said: “We are constantly looking for different ways for our residents to engage with the world around them. If we are not taking them out, we are bringing the world in.” The facility, in Woodbury Park, has had horses and dogs at the home, courtesy of the care team. Mr Marshall added: “Such is the teamwork amongst the staff they all work hard together to ensure the residents’ days are filled with joy.”

The remarkable life of the former head of Sotheby s in America was brought to a tragic end by an articulated lorry as he tried to cross the road in a market town near his Cotswolds estate, an inquest heard yesterday. Eton and Oxford educated Peregrine Pollen, 89, stepped out onto a Pelican crossing in the High Street, Moreton-in-Marsh, just as the traffic lights had turned green and the truck began to move forward. Mr Pollen, who walked with a stick and had mobility difficulties, was unable to get out of the way and the truck ran over him, killing him instantly, the Gloucester inquest was told.
