Dredgit nabs Craney Island contract April 23, 2021, by Eldin Ganic
Dredgit Environmental Corporation from Houston, Texas, has won a $17 million firm-fixed-price contract to provide site improvements at the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area in Virginia.
Bids were solicited via the internet with six received, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) said in its latest announcement.
“Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of April 21, 2024,” the statement reads.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District, is the contracting activity.

The Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area is a 2,500-acre confined dredged material disposal site located near Norfolk, VA.
Springfield Chamber Outlook lunch goes virtual; ABC’s Ann Compton will give keynote speech

SPRINGFIELD The Springfield Regional Chamber will conduct a virtual Outlook lunch this year, moving an event that normally takes place in a huge ballroom into the online realm.
The event is 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 28. The chamber asks people to visit www.springfieldregionalchamber.com to register.
Tickets cost $39.95 for Springfield Regional Chamber members and $49.95 for general admission. Enterprise-level tickets, with six access passes, are available for $179 for members and $225 for nonmembers.
Outlook generally brings together more than 500 business leaders to network and hear from expert speakers on local, state and federal issues. This year’s online event already has about 250 registrants, said Nancy Creed, president of the Springfield Regional Chamber.

In a letter to President Joe Biden, the members stressed the importance of ensuring that the Norfolk Harbor Widening and Deepening project has the federal funding it needs to proceed as scheduled.
