With alarming rise in COVID cases, number of beds available in hospitals decrease

Avtar Bhat JAMMU, May 5: With alarming surge in COVID cases in the UT for last three days the number of beds meant for such patients in the Hospitals across the J&K has have declared. As per reports, out of 1700 beds which were available in SKIMS Srinagar, different medical colleges of the UT as well as private hospitals, district and sub district hospitals on May 2 has now declined to 177 by this evening due to the alarming surge in the number of COVID patients. The official data revealed that out of 177 beds, 97 are vacant in the Medical Colleges and other hospitals of Jammu region while 80 are available in different Medical Colleges as well as other hospitals of Kashmir valley.

1700 beds for Corona patients still available in UT hospitals: Govt

Avtar Bhat JAMMU, May 2: Though there is no dearth of beds or oxygen in Government hospitals as about half number of COVID beds are available in the Medical Colleges and Hospitals as well as private hospitals of J&K UT, some people still persist on treatment of their patients at their homes by purchasing the oxygen cylinders which the Government has repeatedly stated that the practice is in contravention of the protocol. As per official figures, there are 3679 beds available for COVID patients in the hospitals of J&K UT out of which 1977 have been occupied while 1702 are still available. Besides, 195 COVID ICU beds are available in these hospitals at present.
