th of Ramadan 2AH, truth was distinguished from falsehood.
This is the day that three hundred and thirteen Muslims led by Nabi Muhammad (SAW) lined-up against a thousand well-equipped disbelievers from Makkah in the battle of Badr.
The clash is described as the day of Yawmul Furqan, the day where truth was distinguished from falsehood.
The Muslims won the battle with 14 Sahaba (RA) being martyred while 70 non-believers were killed, but had they lost, scholars say, the deen of Islam would have been extinguished forever.
Speaking during the suhoor programme on Radio Islam on the rainy day of Jumu’ah, Ml Sulaimaan Ravat says Sahaba (RA) sacrificed their lives so that Islam could spread to every corner of the world.

Ecosystem Services, Global Environmental Change, and Local Actions that can help
As Muslims, we believe that Allah’s rahma (Mercy) and His blessings have no limits. We live on a planet that contains all the resources that humans need for survival: water, food, materials for buildings and machinery such as wood, metal and rubber. The Quran provides illustrations of the relationships between water, plants, animals and humans (Ahmad 2010). Allah SWT says:
“Have they not seen how We drive water to the dry land that has no vegetation, and therewith bring forth crops providing food for their cattle and themselves? Will they not then see?” (As-Sajdah 32:27).
Why Nature is Sacred to Muslims
The natural environment includes both biological (living) components, such as flora, fauna and insects; and biophysical (non-living) components, such as climate, natural resources, water, rocks, and air. It also includes all the interactions between them, occurring within and across ecosystems. Basically, all of Allah’s perfect Creations here on Earth, are encompassed in the natural world!
Allah SWT says in the Holy Qur’an:
And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play. We created them not except with truth, but most of us do not comprehend. (Al-Dukhan 44:38-39)

Respect for the Provisions Provided by Allah SWT, Through Nature and Lessons from Trees
Allah SWT created the Earth perfectly, with provisions for all of His creations, including humans and all other creatures. From the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat, to the clothes we wear, the homes we live in, and the vehicles we move around in, all the necessary materials have been provided by Allah. Sub’haan Allah! Allah SWT says:
“It is He who made the earth subservient to you (i.e. easy to walk, to live and to do agriculture on it); so walk in the path thereof and eat of His provision. And to Him will be the resurrection.” (Al-Mulk, 67:15)
