COVID UPDATE:
On April 23, the Marblehead total case count = 1,306; 23 active cases; 31 total deaths. The average daily incidence rate was 15.8/100,000, a slight increase over 4/16, and the percentage positive tests was 1.73%, also a slight increase. He noted that the part of the explanation for the latter was that the governor’s travel order had changed to an advisory, and now the number of tests had declined from 3,000s over the previous 2 weeks to 2605 over the next time period. With fewer tests but the same number of positives, the percentage would go up.
Statewide the number of cases continues to trend downward. The age distribution of the cases is: 8, 0-19; 3, 20-29; 2, 30-39; 6, 40-49; 10,50-59; 5, 60-69; 1, 70-79; and 3, > 80. Many of the new infections are in the lower age groups as older age groups are getting vaccinated. (As of April 16, all > 16 years old are eligible for vaccination.)

It Was A Wedding For The Books
What do you wear to a wedding during a pandemic?
Blaize Levitan and Kristina Powell and their guests wore matching face masks – pink and red, custom made – in a Covid-conscious Valentine’s Day ceremony held Sunday, Feb. 14 at Book Trader Cafe in New Haven.
The wedding was a first for the popular cafe and bookstore at Chapel and York streets.
Book Trader was one of the couple’s favorite haunts during the four years when Levitan and Powell began a long-distance relationship. They would read and eat at the cafe while waiting for the trains that would take them back to their respective homes in New York and Hartford.
The Jaguars will have a six-month window to do environmental testing on a chunk of Metropolitan Park and The Shipyards where team owner Shad Khan has shown plans for a new development centered around a Four Seasons Hotel.
The Downtown Investment Authority board unanimously gave the go-ahead Wednesday despite a plea by the group Riverfront Parks Now to keep the entire Met Park property off-limits to the testing. This land is our land, said Denise Reagan, executive director of the Garden Club of Jacksonville and member of the Riverfront Parks Now group. It’s owned by the public and we care deeply about keeping it and turning it into a premier destination.
