NANCY TO DOH: MAKE SURE HANDLING PROTOCOLS ARE STRICTLY FOLLOWED
Senator Nancy Binay has urged the Department of Health to reiterate to local health units the need to strictly follow vaccine handling protocols.
At least 348 vials of Coronavac had been rendered unusable in Makilala town in Cotabato after local health workers left the vials in a freezer without electricity for two days. Checking if the vaccines are in good condition is the most basic of things. Vaccines are a very precious commodity in these times. Yung ilang minutong brownout nga lang nabubulabog na tayo, what more kung two days? Sayang ang mga bakuna. Kapag dumating ang mga ganitong sitwasyon at walang contingency, dedma na lang ba? Binay asked.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 14) President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday wanted to ensure proper handling and immediate distribution of COVID-19 vaccines to avoid wastage.

The Department of Agriculture should expedite the rollout of programs promoting repopulation and biosecurity measures for local hog raisers in the country, Senator Nancy Binay said on Wednesday, May 12.
Binay said that since President Duterte has already declared a state of calamity throughout the Philippines due to the African swine fever (ASF), the DA should fast track programs that seek to help the local swine industry curb the entry of ASF and other hog-related diseases.
“After the declaration of the state of calamity, the next step is for the DA to act with a sense of urgency and mobilize needed resources to curtail the spread of ASF,” Binay said in a statement.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 12) Banks should simplify loan requirements for the benefit of farmers and agrarian reform beneficiaries, senators said Wednesday.
In a public hearing on proposed amendments to the Agri-Agra Reform Credit Act of 2009, Senator Cynthia Villar raised the possibility of crafting a law mandating banks to stick to a short list of requirements.

Pwede nating ilagay yun sa law. Ito lang ang pwede nilang irequire kasi hindi naman marunong gumawa ng ibang bagay,” Villar, chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Food and Agrarian Reform, said.
