“We are still working on the cleanup this week and we’re going to finish it up on Friday,” said Elkins Operations Manager Bob Pingley. “We started Monday in Third Ward and now we are in Fourth Ward for a couple of days. We will wrap it all up in Fifth Ward on Thursday and Friday.”
As of Monday, the city had collected 78 tons of material from the Spring Cleanup so far. Local residents were allowed no more than one level pickup-truck load for each household. The cleanup, which is designed for residents to discard any unwanted items from their homes, garages, basements, and any other places where junk piles up, collected 15 tons of debris on the first day alone.
