14,100 nursing home residents have died | News, Sports, Jobs

aonyon@leaderherald.com GLOVERSVILLE Since the start of the pandemic through Tuesday, 14,100 nursing home residents statewide have died of the coronavirus. Of those individuals, 46 residents of Fulton County nursing homes and 60 residents of Montgomery County nursing homes have died. A report issued by state Attorney General Letitia James on Jan. 28 found that a larger number of nursing home residents died from the COVID-19 than had been publicly reported by the state Department of Health. The report indicated those numbers may have been undercounted by as much as 50 percent. Darlene was born on May 3, 1951, in Schenectady, New York, the daughter of the late George and Ethel (Atwood) Maryea. She had been a longtime resident of our area, namely with her Lexington family. Her faith was Roman Catholic. Darlene spent so many wonderful moments with her Lexington family. Everyone should have at least one friend with a sassy personality and a wild heart. Darlene was once a sassy and rambunctious young woman. She had personality plus. We fondly reminisce about the good ole days of her being so well dressed, her hair and nails done just right and her magnificent and beautiful scarfs. We had so many happy and wonderful times with her. She dedicated her life to her family and fr

Nathan Littauer Nursing Home is one of the best | News, Sports, Jobs

Jan 22, 2021 I know that there is a lot of negativity about nursing homes but we have one of the best right here in Gloversville. It’s Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home. I was fortunate to have spent almost six months there. The aides and nurses were excellent. They answered our needs as soon as possible (even when they were shorthanded) and you can’t beat the therapy personnel. At one point I couldn’t work at all. I worked very hard to be able to walk again, but my Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy therapists worked just as hard as I did and together we made it. My thanks also goes out to Mike (Bill) who oversees the whole physical therapy department. When needed, he also works one on one with the patients.
