If the 2021 season began today, only
6 of those 45 still would be a Cub: Javier Baez, Kris Bryant, Willson Contreras, Jason Heyward, Anthony Rizzo and Kyle Hendricks, the lone remaining pitcher.
Remarkably, 2016 was the final season with the Cubs for
21 of those 45 players: 7 position players and 14 pitchers.
The position players who did not return in 2017 included 2 who had appeared in at least half of the team s games in 2016: outfielders Dexter Fowler (125) and Jorge Soler (86).
Among the departed pitchers were starter and 15-game winner Jason Hammel (30 games) and frequent relievers Travis Wood (77) and Trevor Cahill (50).

I’m likely to say this a lot, but we have another of my favorites.
Reed Johnson was born December 8, 1976, in Riverside, CA. The
Blue Jays drafted him in the 17th round of the 1999 amateur draft out of Cal State Fullerton, where he was named an Academic All-American and played baseball and soccer. Players drafted in the 17th round have to work harder to make it to the majors, and Reed worked as hard as any major leaguer. His high socks, great defense, hustle, and willingness to take one for the team made him a fan favorite in Toronto.
Mayor Russ Wilson and the newly elected and returning members of the Breckenridge, Minnesota, City Council took the Oath of Office on Monday, Dec. 21, during their last meeting of the year.
New members include Chris Vedder and Scott Wermerskirchen, who previously served on the council. They were joined by returning member Reed Johnson, who was the only current member up for reelection that chose to run this year. James Jawaski, Jason Butts and Rick Busko will be up for reelection in 2022.

Comic book creators and Hemingway share a natural kinship. The comic book page demands an economy of words, and for multi-panel stories a lot of the action takes place between the panels. It’s an interactive reading experience, much like Hemingway’s work. It demands that you interpret and bring yourself to the text, like Hemingway’s less-is-more “iceberg theory,” in graphic form.
In
Death in the Afternoon(1932), Hemingway expounded on his theory that what is left out of a story gives it power, that the act of omission strengthens a story. Hemingway contends that in the hands of a talented writer, a reader “will have a feeling of those things as strongly as though the writer had stated them.
