Amid surge in COVID-19 cases, night curfew in Gujarat from Wednesday till April 30 ANI | Updated: Apr 06, 2021 22:59 IST
Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], April 6 (ANI): Night curfew will be imposed in 20 cities of Gujarat between 8 pm to 6 am from Wednesday till April 30, informed Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Tuesday.
The cities where night curfew will be imposed are Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Junagadh, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Anand, Nadiad, Mehsana, Morbi, Patan, Godhra, Dahod, Bhuj, Gandhidham, Bharuch, Surendranagar, and Amreli. 100 people to be allowed at weddings. Grand events to be postponed until April 30. Government offices to remain closed on Saturday till April 30, said Rupani during a review meeting with officials over the COVID-19 situation.
Amid the sharp rise in
coronavirus positive cases, the Gujarat government on Tuesday announced a curfew from 8 pm to 6 am in 20 cities in the state, which will come into force from Wednesday, till April 30. Earlier in the day, the Gujarat High Court had observed that the COVID-19 situation in the state was getting out of control , and suggested a curfew or lockdown could be imposed for three to four days to break the infection chain. Earlier, the curfew was in force from 9 pm to 6 am in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot cities in Gujarat. The government has also banned political or social gatherings till April 30 and reduced the number of guests who can attend a marriage ceremony.
