Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], March 7 (ANI): Union Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) Nitin Gadkari on Saturday has asserted that the priority of the government is to take village industry turnover to Rs 5 lakh crore within five years.
Speaking at an event of KPIT Sparkle 2021, the minister said, Our village industry turnover is Rs 88,000 crore, my highest priority is to take it to Rs 5 lakh crore within five years. It is an important mission for me.
In November last year, Gadkari at Virtual Horasis Asia Meeting had said that the Centre is planning to take the MSME contribution to the economic growth from 30 per cent to 40 per cent.
Nagpur: A major fire broke out at Snehal Pharma and Surgicals Pvt Ltd in Butibori industrial area on Monday morning. Raw material meant for manufacturing antibiotics, sanitizers and imported machinery worth crores were gutted.
The fire started due to short-circuit at an adjoining area where scrap from the factory was stored, said fire officials, adding no casualties and injuries were reported.
The factory is owned by Sudhir Deulgaonkar former officer on special duty with Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari and his brother Subodh.
The fire started at around 10.40am in the ground-plus-two storey factory situated in MIDC estate in Butibori.

NAGPUR: The Maharashtra police have provided jobs to more than 180 family members of police personnel who died while on duty, including those in fight against coronavirus, DGP Hemant Nagrale said on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference here, Nagrale said appointment letters were issued this week to 183 family members of police personnel who died while on duty in different police ranges of the state.
Of these, 30 appointment letters were issued in Nagpur on Thursday, he said.
The appointments were made under a government scheme for employment on compassionate ground, said Nagrale, who is on a two-day visit to review the police department s functioning in Nagpur and a few of its neighbouring districts.
