Guwahati, May 9 : In a major breakthrough, three rhino poachers and smugglers of rhino horns were arrested by the Assam police on Sunday from Karbi Anglong distrtict, officials said.
Assam police spokesman said that acting on a tip-off the police arrested Welson Teron, 34, Dereshang Rengma, 36 and Alo Rengma, 29 and recovered some sophisticated arms and ammunition from their possession.
While Welson and Dereshang are residents of Karbi Anglong and Alo is a resident of Nagaland s Dimapur.

Nagaland: In a traffic advisory issued by the Kohima Traffic Police it has been stated that the route from Nagaland Legislative Assembly junction to Thizama will be closed for all traffic movement from 17th February till further notice.
As landslides have affected the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Complex, a major rock bolting exercise is to be carried out by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department as a mitigative measure from 17th February 2021 with heavy machineries to be placed on the Thizama road below the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Complex.

DIMAPUR: In a major success, the Gurugram police busted a gang that stole luxury cars from Delhi, NCR region and Rajasthan and then sell them in Nagaland.
The gang was unearthed when two members identified as Ankit of Hisar and Zalal of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh was arrested by the crime unit Sector-10 of the Gurugram police.
The accused later confessed that the gang would use to sell high-end luxury cars in Nagaland to an illegal car dealer named Kikheto in Nagaland.

Gurugram, Jan 14 : In a major crackdown on vehicle theft, the Gurugram Police have nabbed a Nagaland-based illegal dealer of luxury cars that are stolen from Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and other states.
After changing their engine numbers, chassis numbers and registration numbers, these cars were then sold in the remote northeastern states and in Gurugram, the police said on Thursday.
The arrested car dealer, who is the kingpin in the racket, was identified as Kikheto of Nagaland s Dimapur district. He confessed before the police that he has sold 50 luxury cars after fabricating their engine, chassis and registration numbers.

GUWAHATI: The Indian Air Force (IAF) is undertaking a complex operation as it is trying to douse the wildfire in the ecologically-sensitive Dzukou Valley on the Nagaland-Manipur border.
The operation involves complex calculations and skilled flying for the pilots. The fire is raging at different pockets of both states despite efforts being made by multiple agencies.
A gust and difficult terrain is only one problem for the pilots. With the help of Bambi Buckets, the IAF pilots are lifting thousands of litres of water from a water body in Nagaland s Dimapur district and making sorties for 15-20 minutes before they reach the site of wildfire that has wreaked havoc in the Valley of Flowers .
