The Navi Mumbai Police have in a span of one week arrested eight people for allegedly selling Remdesivir injections in black market and cheating people on the pretext of selling the vials.
On Monday, the Panvel City police arrested three men for allegedly cheating a Pune resident of ₹88,000 by promising four vials. One of the accused, Akash Mhatre, had given the contact number of his accomplice identified as Saurabh Vonkar to the complainant who was in search of the injection.
The complainant contacted Mr. Vonkar who told him that he had four vials and would sell them for ₹88,000 which the former would have to hand over to his friend Aniket Tandel. The complainant gave the money to Mr. Tandel near Panvel railway station.

The Navi Mumbai Crime Branch’s Unit I has arrested three people who stole 62 Royal Enfield Bullet bikes from Maharashtra and Goa between September 2020 and January 2021. Forty-four bikes worth ₹1.30 crore have been recovered.
The accused have been identified as Amol Shivaji Dhobale (35), a resident of Ghatkopar; Sohail Imtiaz Shaikh (28), a resident of Mumbra; and Saurabh Milind Karanje (23), a resident of Vikhroli. Unit I officials found that in all 12 cases filed in Navi Mumbai, bikes were stolen in the evening.
Additional Commissioner of Police B.G. Shekhar Patil said CCTV footage showed that the accused used an ignition switch to start the engine. “Usually, thieves break the handle lock or open the socket,” he said.

The Kharghar police have arrested four men who shot at a real estate agent in Kharghar while attempting to rob him on Saturday night. The accused have been identified as Gopal Nanu Singh (23), Abhinandan Kumar Ganesh Sharma (23) and Vipin Shailendar Thakur (19) from Haryana; and Muchan Nagendra Thakur (19) from Bihar. The accused said they planned to start a hotel with the money earned through looting.
The police said Prateek Ravindra Aher (24), a resident of Pen City in Raigad district, drove to Vashi on his two-wheeler at 3 p.m. to meet a friend. On the way back, via Sion Panvel highway, he took the Kopra gaon road after reaching Kharghar at 10 p.m..
