Banned tobacco products worth Rs 39.69 lakh seized from 2 parked containers, 2 arrested
Palghar, May 3 (UNI) The MBVV (Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar) Police on Monday seized banned tobacco products worth Rs 39.69 lakh from two containers parked near a hotel at Dahanu on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway and arrested their drivers in this connection.
Acting on a specific information, a police team raided the location in Kasa of Dahanu and found the two containers loaded with banned tobacco products.
Police have seized the two containers collectively worth Rs 40 lakh.
The drivers of the two containers Madanlal Premchand Prajapati and Nareshkumar Balvirsingh were arrested, police said.

At least nine COVID-19 patients died on Monday at two different hospitals at Nallasopara in the Palghar district of Maharashtra, a police official said.
He said a large number of people gathered at the hospitals as the rumour spread that the deaths were caused due to the shortage of medical oxygen.
While seven patients, including two women, died at a hospital, two patients died at another hospital, he added.
Police personnel were deployed in large numbers to prevent any untoward incident, the official said.
The situation was closely monitored by senior police inspectors of Tulinj and Nallasopara police stations and senior officers, he added.

The crime branch (unit II) of the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police commissionerate claims to have arrested two people who stole high end motorbikes from the region and later posted advertisements to sell them on the well-known online marketplace OLX.
Alarmed by the spate of bike theft cases in the Vasai-Virar belt, a police team led by Police Inspector Shahuraj Ranaware under the supervision of DCP (Crime) Dr. Mahesh Patil intensified vigilance and activated their core informer network in the twin-city.
Based on information that some suspects were regularly ordering new number plates, the police team zeroed in on the duo who have been identified as Shubham Kumar Birdhichand Sharma (22) and Rohan Sunil Singh (19), both residents of Nallasopara.

A senior citizen, who was waiting to register for COVID-19 vaccination at a civic center in Nalasopara West, died after he suffered a heart attack.
According to Dr Surekha Walke, Medical Health Officer, Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation, the 63-year-old man on Friday collapsed while waiting for vaccination registration, and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead. The man identified as Harish Bhai Panchal, was standing in a queue outside a vaccination centre in Nalasopara West for registration around 9:30 am on Friday. He suddenly started feeling uneasy and fell on the floor. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared him dead, she said.

Palghar: A 31-year-old man allegedly stabbed his wife to death following a dispute at their home in Nalla Sopara area of Maharashtra’s Palghar district, police said on Thursday.
A manhunt has been launched for Roopesh More who allegedly killed his 32-year-old wife Vinita on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, an official said.
The police found the victim lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds, the official said.
Preliminary probe revealed that the couple had fought over financial matters, he said.
