Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee will meet virtually online on Wednesday evening, April 14. Among the applications for planning permission set to be ruled on are proposals to bulldoze Chevys Sports Bar in Padgate in order to build a block of flats.

Previous known as the Cemetery Hotel, the Good Companions and Formbys and dating back to the 1870s, the pub has been closed since 2017. In total, 16 formal objections have been lodged against the development – with concerns raised over traffic, parking and the design being out of character.

Volunteer John Fox with Sylivia and Brian Dilloway and donations from Good Companions Organisers of a community project helping those in need during the pandemic have been able to reflect on a successful month since launching its latest hub in Ongar at Zinc Art Centre. The 3Food4U charity has seen the number of families using the non-judgmental and non-assessed service rise every week as word has spread. The hub has also been visited by Brentwood and Ongar MP Alex Burghart and North Weald councillor Jaymey McIvor.
