Plans to demolish Chevys pub for apartments to be approved

Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee will meet virtually online on Wednesday evening, April 14. Among the applications for planning permission set to be ruled on are proposals to bulldoze Chevys Sports Bar in Padgate in order to build a block of flats. Chevys Sports Bar - picture by Google Maps And members have been recommended to approve the scheme for the site at the junction of Manchester Road and Padgate Lane. Previous known as the Cemetery Hotel, the Good Companions and Formbys and dating back to the 1870s, the pub has been closed since 2017. In total, 16 formal objections have been lodged against the development – with concerns raised over traffic, parking and the design being out of character.

Use of 3Food4U s Ongar hub increases in its first month

Volunteer John Fox with Sylivia and Brian Dilloway and donations from Good Companions Organisers of a community project helping those in need during the pandemic have been able to reflect on a successful month since launching its latest hub in Ongar at Zinc Art Centre. The 3Food4U charity has seen the number of families using the non-judgmental and non-assessed service rise every week as word has spread. The hub has also been visited by Brentwood and Ongar MP Alex Burghart and North Weald councillor Jaymey McIvor. Thank you so much to all of the volunteers and generosity of our community for helping to make it happen. The social distancing measures in place were so impressive and many people commented on how safe and comfortable they felt.
