Giving: DAR chapter names Good Citizen award winners

Abigail Nimmo of Northside High School and Nathaniel Ingle of Roanoke Catholic School recently received DAR Good Citizens awards from the Col. William Preston Chapter of the National Daughters of the American Revolution. Nimmo, valedictorian of her class with a 4.27 GPA, also won the DAR Good Citizens scholarship contest. She will graduate from Virginia Western Community College this spring and plans to attend High Point University and major in biochemistry, and later attend medical college. Ingle, who has earned a 4.27 GPA, plans to attend the College of William and Mary and major in biology to become a research biologist. Nimmo and Ingle received a certificate, pin, wallet card and monetary gift.

Commodore Preble DAR recognizes Good Citizens high school seniors Submitted by Commodore Preble Chapter DAR PREBLE COUNTY Commodore Preble Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is pleased to sponsor the DAR Good Citizens Award and Scholarship program in the Preble County high schools. DAR is a non-political women’s service organization whose mission is historic preservation, education, and patriotism. The Good Citizens program, created in 1934, recognizes and rewards high school seniors who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. All five Preble County high schools participated in the 2020/2021 DAR Good Citizens Program by designating a senior who demonstrates the good citizen qualities promoted by DAR. Wooster-Wayne DAR chapter recognizes this year s high school Good Citizens

Submitted A Wooster High School senior was selected as this year s Wooster-Wayne Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution s top Good Citizen. Lena Wiebe, daughter of Mareike Herrmann, received a plaque and a scholarship. Her name will be added to a trophy that is displayed at the winner’s high school until next year’s Good Citizen is chosen. Part of the Good Citizen competition is an essay. Included in hers, Wiebe said: “Every step forward this country has taken has been the result of dedicated, caring citizens who want their government to represent them.
