Final Results from Saskatchewan Provincial 4-H Public Speaking Competition
Thirty-two members in four age categories and representing a wide variety of clubs participated in the first-ever virtual 4-H Provincial Public Speaking Competition.
The competition was held on the Zoom platform in accordance with COVID-19 protocols. The judges commented on the high quality of the presentations and the participants’ adaptability in making their presentations over the internet.
Here are the top three placings from the four age categories:
Cloverbud (Age 6-8)
1st Place- Claire Galli- Melville Town ‘N Country 4-H Club “A Job Involving My Furry Friends”
2nd Place- Kendele Noble – Durness Multi 4-H Club “Don’t Eat Out of the Cheeto Bowl”

Westview Community School in Prince Albert been selected as one of 10 Saskatchewan schools that will each receive a $10,000 grant to support student nutrition after being selected to win this year’s Mosaic School Nutrition Challenge
According to Principal Cheryl Arcand, the school applied to enhance some of the programming that is already in place including being a Breakfast Club of Canada school.
“We are so fortunate that we are able to serve breakfast for our students every day and that helps them to get their day started in a great way and then this additional grant dollars will just enhance what we currently have and so much. It will be an amazing opportunity, it’s exciting actually,” Arcand said.

(Harrisburg, PA) The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board is going to be holding a limited-release lottery series that will give some vendors a chance to purchase over 200 bottles of 28 rare whiskeys. Those who are interested in joining the lottery are being asked to register on Fine Wine and Good Spirits official website. The deadline to register is set for this Friday at 5:00 p.m.

The state s Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced yesterday that the Bureau of Forestry will be overseeing the spraying of almost 150 sites totaling more than 203-thousand acres. The spraying will be done by helicopters and planes. Officials say gypsy moths are an invasive species that cause major habitat loss by killing many different types of trees including Oak, sweet gum, basswood, birch, aspen and willows.
