Pradeep Sharma had joined Mumbai Police as sub-inspector in 1983 and has been involved in over 300 encounters related to the Mumbai underworld, out of which, 113 shootouts are in his name. In 2008, he was expelled from the force for reportedly having connections with crime lord Dawood Ibrahim and his gang. However, he was reinstated a year later.

Mumbai: 63-year-old suffers heart attack while waiting in queue to register for COVID-19 vaccine, dies ANI | Updated: Mar 13, 2021 15:42 IST Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], March 13 (ANI): A 63-year-old man who had gone to register for Covid-19 vaccination at a civic center in Mumbai s Nalasopara West area collapsed after suffering a heart attack and subsequently died. According to Dr Surekha Walke, Medical Health Officer, Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation, the man on Friday fell on the ground while waiting to register for the vaccine, and was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead. A 63-year-old man, Harish Bhai Panchal, was standing in a queue outside a center in Nalasopara West for registration around 9:30 am on Friday. He suddenly started feeling uneasy and fell on the floor. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared him dead, she said.

The driver, Mehboob Shaikh, 36, was arrested the same day on charges of rash driving and negligence. The victims, Ganesh Bage, 31, and Rakesh Waghoskar, 34, were walking down the street near Shivaji Nagar at Borivali West around 11.30am. The tempo came up from behind them in speed. The vehicle crashed into Bage and Waghoskar but the driver did not halt to take them to the doctor. He fled instead. But not before one of the witnesses noted down his vehicle registration number.
