National Garden Scheme launches scholarship programme for community nurses
The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI) and the National Garden Scheme (NGS) have announced the creation of a new scholarship programme for community nurses.

The Queen’s Nursing Institute believes it is on track to see the “largest” annual increase in district nurses across the UK since its records began.
In its eighth annual report on district nursing education in the UK, the community nursing charity has today published data for the 2019-20 academic year.

The QNI s report is informed by an online survey, carried out between November 2020 and February 2021, of 38 universities that deliver a district nurse Specialist Practitioner Qualification (SPQ) programme.
It is understood there are 43 universities in total approved to offer the programme.

Raj Jain, who is chief executive of Northern Care Alliance (Salford Royal Foundation Trust and Pennine Acute Hospitals Trust), discussed the interconnectedness between the community and acute services his organisation provides – and how the pandemic has further influenced this.
