DEHRADUN: The Uttarakhand BJP legislature party will meet today at 3pm to elect a new leader after Tirath Singh Rawat resigned as chief minister on Friday night.
Amid suspense over the new pick, BJP state chief Madan Kaushik has already confirmed that the new chief minister would be from among the party MLAs.
There are at least half a dozen legislators who are being regarded as frontrunners for the key post.
The names doing the rounds include former CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, tourism minister Satpal Maharaj, minister Bishan Singh Chuphal, legislator Pushkar Dhami, state party chief Madan Kaushik and higher education minister Dhan Singh Rawat.
