Activist wants enhanced facility for Haynesville Article by By Shamar Blunt One St. James community leader is calling for a new community resource center to be established in the heart of the Haynesville area. This plea comes from Youth Commissioner and Community Representative, Peter Skeete, as he spoke to media after the completion of a refurbishing exercise at the Haynesville Community Post, done by members of the Prince’s Trust International, with support from the Royal Barbados Police Force. Skeete graciously thanked the young volunteers for their excellent work in completing a much- needed refurbishing of the site, but said the time had come for a larger, resources building to be erected in the area, to support the large number of youth-centric activities currently being supported by community organisers.

Services will be held outside on the green in front of the village office, weather permitting. Like many organizations, A Child’s Hope International was hit by the pandemic, yet leaders and volunteers did not let that change their mission. In fact, they used their free time to come up with this new innovative idea to help better feed children in need. “When COVID shut us down hard last year, we realized there was more children around the world suffering than ever before,” A Child’s Hope International Exec. Director Lawrence Bergeron explained. “And how are we gonna help take care of those kids when the traditional method of using volunteers to produce this food was no longer possible.”

IWU chooses Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger as 2021 Society of World Changers inductee

May 12, 2021 Indiana Wesleyan University has chosen Pat Gelsinger, a respected information technology veteran and business leader, as the 2021 inductee into the Society of World Changers. Gelsinger will be formally inducted into the IWU Society of World Changers during a special convocation on Nov. 3. In February 2021, Gelsinger returned to the company where his career began and became the chief executive officer of Intel, a multinational corporation and technology company. During his initial 30 years with Intel, he became the first chief technology officer driving the creation of key industry technologies, including USB and Wi-Fi. As the architect of the original 80486 processor, Gelsinger also played a significant role in steering Intel to dominance in the microprocessor supplier market.
