Air Namibia protests ‘too little, too late’

Political analysts have termed the nationwide protests by the Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL), the country’s largest trade union, the National Union of Namibian Workers (NUNW) and the Trade Union Congress of Namibia (Tucna) against Air Namibia’s liquidation as “too little, too late”.
The NUNW, which was joined by the SPYL, marched to the Swapo headquarters and Office of the Prime Minister, while Tucna petitioned parliament.

Green inducts 25 students to create ICT professionals

Namibian ICT company Green Enterprise Solutions (Green) is hosting a two-week-long induction for 25 trainees from Namibian tertiary institutions. These students represent NUST, Unam, Lingua College and IUM.
The induction and the ensuing traineeship are expected to build capacity amongst the chosen students and give them real-world experience to enhance their theoretical knowledge. This induction is being conducted whilst adhering to all Covid-19 rules and regulations.
Green has created a fully-fledged programme that gives a ‘hands-on’ educational framework for interns and young Namibian professionals, providing them experience in technical and administrative ICT programmes. These include software development, infrastructure technologies, and networking and cybersecurity.
Application Deadline:9 April 2021.
Alliance 4 Universities has been awarded funds under Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility programme (Action KA107). Through these funds, students and staff from non-European partner universities (see Call for details) and from A4U universities have the opportunity to participate in mobility schemes.
Who can apply? The calls are open to Bachelor, Master and PhD students and staff from the participating universities.
How long can the mobility be? For Bachelor, Master and PhD students the mobility can be from 3 to 5 months long. For staff, 7 days are covered by the grant: 5 days for teaching (or training, or both) and 2 days for travel.
