Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday assured that the state government will always prioritize the needs of Persons Living with Disability (PLWD), disclosing that the Disability Trust Fund had, to this end, been reactivated in the state.
Sanwo-Olu made the disclosure during an interactive session with people living with disability at the State House, Marina, Lagos, where they were presented with a number of assisted devices such as wheelchairs, white canes, crutches, walking sticks, among others.
According to the governor, who expressed appreciation to the people for all their suggestions, which he said had the state government, the budget for Disability Trust Fund running to the tune of N500million had just been passed by the State House of Assembly.

The Stop TB Partnership in Ghana has held its sixth Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Accra to take stock of activities and chart new paths for addressing present challenges of finding new Tuberculosis (TB) cases.
Mr David Kwasi Afreh, the Board Chairperson Stop TB Partnership in Ghana, commended the other Board members for their diverse expertise that contributed to various successes within the year.
He said the Stop TB Partnership, which is a national umbrella, comprised of Civil Society Organisations, Private and Public Sectors, Research and Academia and individuals, is the Implementing Partners (IPs) of the TB Control Programme, with support from the Global Fund.

Only seven per cent of Persons Living with Disability (PWDs) benefit from the Coronavirus Alleviation Programme (CAP), a research conducted by the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD), has revealed.
The programme, which was introduced by government to cushion Ghanaian businesses from the impact of the pandemic largely did not factor peculiar needs of PWDs in the implementation, according to the research conducted in Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi.
Mr. Christopher Agbega, COVID-19 Project Officer of GFD, presenting key findings of the research which was to assessed the impact of COVID-19 on PWDs, said the right channel to get the information to PWDs were not used, so most of their members were not aware.
