In the summer of 2019, former state Sen. H. Douglas Barclay invited his good friend Joseph L. Rich down to his spacious parcel, Douglaston Salmon Run, County Route 5, Pulaski. Mr. Rich hopped into a four-wheeler, with Mr. Barclay confidently at the wheel.
âHe took me on a joy ride like you wouldnât believe,â Mr. Rich recalled on Tuesday, two days after Mr. Barclay died at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy of exemplary public service. âI mean it was up the hills and down the hills. I told him it was better than any ride at the fair. I was holding on for dear life.â

At his second impeachment trial, former President Donald Trump was acquitted of inciting the January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol:
Good! Because he didnât do anything wrong.

The man was not innocent. It was only because of the rules established long ago and were never revised for a changing world that he got away with the monstrous things he did.
WATERTOWN â Last year was the year that the music died for the Disabled Persons Action Organization.
For the first time in more than 40 years, DPAO was unable to hold its annual concert series as the COVID-19 pandemic and state-related restrictions made such gatherings impossible.
But it was more than about fans missing the music of some of the top entertainers in the country. DPAO itself took a hit. Funding for programs that the concerts provided for the nonprofit evaporated.
Proceeds from the DPAO Annual Summer Concert Series are received by the DPAO Foundation, which then provides funding for various DPAO programs and services.
