Cuomo has announced the completion of the upgraded wastewater collection and treatment facility located at the Great Neck Water Pollution Control District in Great Neck, Nassau County. This $12.3 million project included the construction of a first-in-the-state receiving station that uses cooking grease to power facility operations. That, plus the construction of a third microturbine and upgrades to its anaerobic digesters, makes this facility one of the most environmentally advanced wastewater treatment plants in the state. The Great Neck Water Pollution Control District serves more than 25,000 residents in Nassau County. 

Long Island Skilled Nursing Facilities Producing TV Show Intended for Homebound Seniors

Photo by: LECOB Excel at Woodbury for Rehabilitation and Nursing and Lynbrook Restorative Therapy and Nursing have joined with The Life Enrichment Center at Oyster Bay (LECOB), to produce a series of entertaining and educational TV shows to engage senior citizens who may still be homebound while senior centers remained closed. LECOB provides social activities and vital services for people 60-years-old and above.   The show is co-produced by Carolyn Palladino, community liaison at Excel at Woodbury and Denise Walsh, community liaison at Lynbrook Restorative Therapy and Nursing.   “The goal of this project is to reach seniors to combat the isolation, depression and anxiety that is prevalent due to social isolation,” said Palladino. “From our experience over the last year, we have learned only about 10% of the seniors are comfortable or able to operate Zoom.
