Bicester resort's bus shuttle plan is 'really vague', planning Inspector told

PLANS to provide a bus shuttle service to a proposed water park resort near Bicester has been described as showing ‘no commitment’. The planning appeal hearing for the resort - which was refused by Cherwell District Council last year - has begun. The multi-million pound project put forward by US firm Great Wolf Resorts (GWR) includes a 498-room hotel and would sit on an18.6-hectare site in Chesterton, near Bicester. Its appeal hearing, which is live-streamed on Youtube, started on Tuesday with George Bird appointed as the inspector in the case. Sacha White QC represents the 34 parish councils who oppose the resort, Douglas Edwards QC represents Cherwell District Council and James Strachan QC represents the appellant GWR.

Bicester in 2020: Our top stories from the town

BSA had asked for permission to create new pitches for football, rugby and cricket players of all ages, and even a new archery range. The council refused the scheme because they said the site was an inaccessible location and the development would have ‘adverse visual effects’. JULY Death at roundabout A man in his sixties was driving northbound into Bicester on the A41 from junction 9 of the M40 when he crashed into Vendee Drive roundabout and died at the scene. County councillor Ian Corkin called for traffic lights to be installed at the roundabout and for an immediate safety audit of that stretch of the A41.

Great Wolf Lodge wins expansion ahead of groundbreaking

PERRYVILLE — Great Wolf Lodge will grow by a quarter of an acre before shovels have even broken ground on the $200 million resort project. Perryville officials unanimously approved the proposed expansion Tuesday night in a special meeting held following the mayor and commissioners’ regular work session. Amy DiPietro, principal engineer with Morris & Ritchie Associates, called the addition of 36,000-square-feet “a minor addition.” “We are expanding by one-quarter of an acre. I already talked to Kordell Wilen (chief of the Cecil County Development Services Division) and I feel we can accommodate that change,” DiPietro said. Dianna Battaglia, Perryville planner, said the change would have minimal affect on the water and sewer plans for the resort. She said the changes would be reviewed as post-design and does require a complete re-submittal.
