On Thursday, December 24, 2020, at approximately 12:00 p.m., police, fire and rescue personnel responded to the area of Flat Iron Road and Ryan Lane in Great Mills, for the motor vehicle collision with one subject unconscious.
Troopers from the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack arrived on the scene to find a single vehicle in driveway of a private residence that had struck a wooden walkway and sign belonging to Bowles Mulch, the operator was found unconscious and unresponsive inside of the vehicle.
Fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene and reported State Troopers were performing CPR on the operator.
White Plains man turns himself in for shooting
A 20-year-old has been arrested in connection with a shooting on Tuesday, Dec. 15, which sent a woman to the hospital.
Officers became aware of the alleged shooting at about 2 a.m. when a woman had arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder, a release from the Charles County Sheriffâs Office says.
Investigators later determined the shooting occurred off Frazier Road in Bryans Road, and obtained an arrest warrant for Antonio Lamar Carter, 20, of White Plains.
Carter turned himself in last Thursday, Dec. 17, the release says, and was charged with first-degree assault as well as reckless endangerment. He was released after a family member from Lexington Park posted $10,000 in cash bail, court records say.

UPDATE 12/21/2020: On Sunday, December 20, 2020 at 1:45 p.m., St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the area of Flat Iron Road and Ryan Lane in Great Mills, for the reported motor vehicle collision.
Upon arrival, deputies located a single vehicle off the roadway into a tree with the operator suffering from severe incapacitating injuries. Due to the operator’s injuries a request for the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit was made.
Preliminary investigation determined a 2008 Nissan Frontier, operated by Francis Tu Pham, age 71 of Lexington Park, was traveling northbound on Flat Iron Road when the operator lost control while negotiating a curve in the roadway. The vehicle continued off the roadway striking a tree.
MM1 Kenneth Evan Atkins, USN (Ret.), 79, of California, MD passed away on December 7, 2020 at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home in Charlotte Hall, MD.
He was born on January 12, 1941 in Warren, PA to the late Norman and Leola Ritch Atkins.
In 1958, Ken enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country for over 21 dedicated years of service until his retirement on June 15, 1979 as a Machinists Mate First Class. During his service he travelled extensively and earned many citations and medals. After retiring from the US Navy he worked at DynCorp as a government contractor for many years supporting the Navy.
Antoine Keith Mackall, age 26 of Lusby
Burglary- On December 2, 2020, Dep. Haas responded to the 21800 block of Shangri La Drive in Lexington Park, for the reported burglary. Investigation determined Antoine Keith Mackall, age 26 of Lusby, forced entry into an unoccupied section of the building, and was located sleeping inside the building. Mackall was arrested and charged with Burglary 4th Degree. CASE# 74836-20
Tyrone Antoine Gross, age 33 of Lexington Park
Drug Arrest- On December 2, 2020, members of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division executed a search warrant in the 21000 block of Great Mills Road in Lexington Park. Tyrone Antoine Gross, age 33 of Lexington Park, was located at the residence in possession of suspected cocaine and Ecstasy. Gross was charged with two counts of CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana by DFC.
