Circuit officials at Spa-Francorchamps have confirmed they have managed to repair the damage caused by a major flood at the track last week.
A Spa Euro race was taking place at the time of the flooding, but organisers quickly cancelled proceedings as soon as they noticed a barrage of water heading down between La Source and Eau Rouge – as a local river burst its banks and water began coming through the armco barriers on the old pit straight.
The drainage systems in place at the circuit quickly overflowed and the downhill section heading towards one of the fastest corners on the track was better equipped for boats than cars.
The Spa-Francorchamps circuit, the venue of Formula 1's Belgian GP, has suffered damage to the track surface after it was hit by heavy floods on Friday.
