Courtesy Danelle Haake / RiverWatch A network of volunteers keep watchful eyes on water quality in streams and rivers across Illinois. You ll soon have a chance to join them. RiverWatch is hosting a volunteer training workshop on April 12 at the Tawny Oaks Field Station in Edelstein. Danelle Haake is the group s director. River Watch Begins For Another Year

Each morning, River Watch officials will receive a weather briefing and collect data from several sources to develop river models and forecasts. They will then inform the public of any potential threats which may exist. But Public Safety Minister Ted Flemming says it would be a mistake to count on another year of minor impact.
