Customs and Border Protection Finds Package of Fake Championship Rings in Indy INDIANAPOLIS U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Indianapolis “intercepted” a package that contained fake sports championship rings. On May 3, inspectors noticed a box that had some irregularities in the packaging. Inside, they found 330 fake World Series, Super Bowl, NBA and college football championship rings. Some of the teams included were the Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals. The CBP says the shipment was headed for a store in Texas. The rings were sent to an import specialist, who said the rings were packaged poorly and had a plastic feel to the touch. If they were real, the rings would’ve have been worth close to $500,000.
