UK fibre broadband network provider CityFibre has started work to transform Sheffield into one of the world’s best digitally connected cities.
Across the UK, CityFibre is already working with launch partner Vodafone to deliver next generation broadband services and TalkTalk is expected to join the network soon. The company has invested £115 million to extend its full fibre network to reach almost every home and business in the Sheffield area.
Research from economic consultancy Regeneris shows that full fibre connectivity could add up to £162 million to the value of local homes, while Smart City initiatives could add as much as £113 million locally. The study claimed that access to full fibre could also unlock £78 million in business productivity and innovation, while a further £43 million in growth could be driven from new business start-ups.

The north of England cities of Sheffield and Bradford are celebrating major milestones in their respective digital transformations, according to CityFibre, as work has begun on the gigabit infrastructure platform to extend further its fast-growing full-fibre network to reach almost every home and business in the localities.
In June 2020, CityFibre announced a three-year recruitment and training programme to provide up to 10,000 people with jobs to ensure the delivery of its £4bn Gigabit City investment programme that plans to upgrade digital infrastructure to make it fit for purpose in the modern age.

LELAND, N.C. (WECT) - A Leland woman donated 8,000 ounces of breast milkâand doctors say it could protect babies from contracting viruses.
Katy Bannerman knew she wanted to breastfeed her sons from the startâbut it wasnât easy.
âWith Silas, I had a really hard time nursing,â said the mother of two. âStraight from the hospital, right after we got home, we had to go back to the hospital. It was difficult when heâs hooked up to all the things to nurse. I tried pumping, but him being in the PICU was difficult, so I ended up giving up when I didnât want to.â
