TVAC Celebrates With Awards Ceremony and Street Renaming By Ronit Mershon | May 27, 2021
It was a glorious Sunday morning as Teaneck came together to honor the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corp. It’s no coincidence that the ceremony coincided with the conclusion of National EMS Week. “EMS Week is a time to thank paramedics, EMTs and the entire emergency medical services workforce for their service and sacrifices,” TVAC President Eric Orgen said. “It’s also an opportunity for TVAC to continue to raise public awareness about the critical role that we play in our community.”
The ceremony opened with the “Star Spangled Banner” performed by TVAC member Captain Anastasia Ipekci, followed by the awards ceremony invocation led by former TVAC member Deacon Kevin Regan and Rabbi Daniel Fridman.
Learn to Play Piano With Simon Jewish Music Series By JLNJ Staff | May 27, 2021
(Courtesy of Simonland Music) Piano teacher and author Marcy Rubin has just released the first three books in the new Simonland Jewish Music Series. Written for beginning and intermediate piano students and their teachers, Books 1 through 3 are available now, and the full, six-book leveled series will be available by December 2021.
The Simonland Series not only builds competency in piano but serves another important objective as well. “Parents and students have often asked me to teach piano using Jewish music,” explained Rubin. “But there are few lesson books that include Jewish music. I decided to create something to fill the gap.”
Respected Educator Returns to BPY As New Middle School Associate Principal By JLNJ Staff | May 27, 2021
(Courtesy of BPY) Ben Porat Yosef (BPY), the yeshiva day school located in Paramus, has announced that a well-respected educator, Sarah Bartges, will return to the school in a newly created position as the associate principal overseeing the middle school division. She will assume her new role at the beginning of the academic year in September 2021.
In her new role, Bartges will work with fellow administrators and educators to strengthen the middle school program by increasing the levels of academic rigor and its curriculum. She will also teach some science courses.
Many of you have become familiar with the signage that became extremely popular in the past year and half under the excellent management of Kristin and her husband, Erick.
