2/21 UPDATE: Baylor Returns to Normal Operations on Monday
WACO, Texas (Feb. 21, 2021) – On Monday, Feb. 22, Baylor University will return to normal operations with on-campus instruction and on-campus work. Please be advised that clean-up and restoration continues in some facilities and on the grounds, so we ask for your patience and understanding while our facilities teams work to resolve any building issues caused by the winter storm.
The Louise Herrington School of Nursing also will return to normal operations on Monday.
COVID-19 TESTING
Regular weekly COVID-19 testing will resume on Monday for students, faculty and staff at all campus locations. Getting tested is especially critical since testing operations were interrupted for several days due to the winter storms. Please ensure you complete testing each week while following all health precautions, including face mask wearing and putting distance between you and others.
When the State announced the regional stay-at-home order last month to slow the spread of COVID-19, the Nevada County Relief Fund launched its “Small Business Winter Survival Campaign” to help the most impacted businesses survive. With the generous support of local residents and community leaders, the Nevada County Relief Fund raised $287,500 in the last four weeks, which will be awarded today to 73 small businesses countywide.
“The County put up the $100,000 ‘challenge grant’ right before Christmas, and this amazing community of ours matched it with $112,000 in a matter of weeks,” said County Supervisor and Board Chair Dan Miller. “My wife and I ran a small business on Mill Street for years, so we know how hard it’s been for retailers, and how much these grants can help.”
“These students will receive additional information from the Queen’s University International Centre shortly.”
All athletic and recreation facilities will close for in-person access, and all university-sponsored travel outside of Canada is indefinitely suspended.
“This affects students, staff, and faculty and includes all future exchange, study abroad, letters of permission, faculty-led programs, internships, research placements, community-engaged learning, practicums, and conferences,” the statement said.
Queen’s is also limiting on-campus access for employees to essential staff and faculty or those who must be on campus to work.
“All other faculty, staff, senior administration, and student leadership will work remotely except for required ad hoc access,” the statement said. This includes recording a lecture, printing documents, or retrieving files.

The Dan Rather Medals for News and Guts honor the process of journalism as much as the end product. They will be awarded to professional and collegiate journalists who go the extra yard overcoming obstacles like stonewalling and harassment to get the story that tells truth to power.
The Medals are named for Dan Rather, the legendary reporter and anchor who went far afield from his Texan roots but never forgot his humble beginnings. He has been an ardent supporter of the School of Journalism and Media, inspiring and advocating for our majors. He is a permanent member of the Moody College of Communication’s Advisory Council, where he has been instrumental in its extraordinary development. The School and the College sponsor the Dan Rather Medals for News and Guts to further his goal of supporting and defending bravery and excellence in journalism in the face of overwhelming odds.
