Anne Eadie has resigned as mayor of Kincardine, effective Friday, April 9th.
Council was still in session when Mayor Eadie read a prepared “letter” of resignation to council members.
She stated, her “season” as mayor was coming to an end and was resigning effective April 9th.
Aside from saying it was time, no other reason was given for the move.
Acting mayor Randy Roppel isn’t sure what Thursday will bring however, he expects a lot of phone calls from people wanting to know the inside scoop.
He says that will stay behind closed doors.

Mayor Anne Eadie announced her resignation during a virtual council meeting on Wednesday, April 7. The news came as a surprise to members of council as well as the community. She offered no reasoning, but read from a prepared letter to express how much she has enjoyed her time and to thank her fellow council members.
Eadie began her journey in politics in 2003 when she won a seat on Huron-Kinloss council. She was re-elected in 2006.

In 2010 Eadie became the highest-ranked councillor-at-large in the Municipality of Kincardine, making her the new deputy mayor. By 2014 she was elected mayor of Kincardine, In 2018 she was re-elected. Eadie also sat on Bruce County council.

Kincardine’s mayor is stepping down after nearly two decades in local municipal politics.
Anne Eadie announced her resignation during a virtual meeting of council Wednesday evening by reading a prepared letter addressed to residents, fellow council members and municipal staff.

“My season as mayor is coming to an end,” Eadie said.
“My wish for the community that I love is that we continue to build on our strengths, support each other in times of celebration and need, and all move forward in a positive manner to make this an even better place for present and future generations to live in,” she said.
