MANHATTAN BEACH, CA A member of the Manhattan Beach Bruce s Beach Task Force has released a statement regarding the task force. Allison Hales, a Manhattan Beach resident who was the first resident selected by the Manhattan Beach City Council to serve on the task force, gave Manhattan Beach Patch permission to publish her statement, which was sent to MB Patch after the Bruce s Beach Task Force public presentation on Bruce s Beach Rediscovered: A Presentation for Black History Month last night [Thursday, Feb. 25].

We are focusing on this topic so much because the millions of dollars that should have come to the Black community are sorely needed to help improve the educational, economic, and health outcomes of our community. Legislation proposed by District 6 Councilmember Loren Taylor is intended to bring those millions of dollars back to the Black community.

MALIBU, CA Tempers are likely to run high at Monday night s Malibu Council meeting. In addition to debating an ethics reform proposal co-sponsored by new Councilmembers Bruce Silverstein and Steve Uhring, the Council will also debate two recent additions to the City Council Agenda focused on councilmembers ability to request information from city staff.
City Manager Reva Feldman prepared a report asking for the Council to provide guidance on the amount of time per week that the City Manager should prioritize on requests from one Councilmember. Feldman refers to specifically to Silverstein, whom she says is taking up inordinate amounts of staff time with immediate demands for information requests.
