NP s Village Festival pushed to September | The Valley Breeze

NORTH PROVIDENCE – In part due to the “overwhelming response” from residents who want to be part of the inaugural North Providence Village Festival in Centredale, the multi-day event has been pushed back by more than a month. Organizer and Town Councilor Steven DiLorenzo, pictured, said he’s heard from so many people expressing interest in attending the community event, but they’ve told him they will be on vacation on the previously planned dates of July 30, 31, and Aug. 1. As a result, he told The North Providence Breeze this week, the event will now be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10-12 after the committee charged with planning the event decided to make the change.

First NP Village Festival in Centredale planned for summer

NORTH PROVIDENCE – The inaugural North Providence Village Festival in Centredale has the go-ahead it needs to debut in 2021, planned for July 30-Aug. 1 along Smith Street near Town Hall. The roadway will be closed to traffic for the three-day event. The idea of Town Councilor Steven DiLorenzo, the festival is meant to bring people together and allow them to kick back in a relaxed atmosphere as they support local businesses and vendors. “It will hopefully give local businesspeople a little shot in the arm,” he told The North Providence Breeze. There will be about 30 to 40 vendors, chosen on a first-come, first-served basis. Entertainment will be provided by Steve Anthony (Town Councilor Steve Loporchio), Ron Giorgio, a couple of bands, and youth from the School of Rock in North Providence. There will be food and drink, plenty of entertainment, and fun activities for children including face-painting.

NP expects to maintain its own vaccine site

NORTH PROVIDENCE – Mayor Charles Lombardi says he’s received word from the state that the town will be allowed to keep its own vaccination site in business at North Providence High School going forward. Lombardi said he read the news two weeks ago that communities such as Providence and Pawtucket were getting to keep their own sites because of the density of their populations and the strength of the pandemic there, and so he called state officials to ask them about North Providence, where he noted that 34,000 people live within 5.2 square miles and the town has the second or third highest population of seniors.
