Las Cruces Promotes Vaccine Awareness and Assists with Registration

  The City of Las Cruces continues its front line efforts against COVID-19 with a new campaign designed to create more awareness about the COVID-19 vaccines and information about the registration process.  Here is a statement from the City:  “Sleeve Up Las Cruces” events will begin on Saturday, February 27, at the Las Cruces Farmers and Crafts Market. City staff and volunteers will kick off the campaign by helping Las Cruces residents register for COVID vaccinations. City of Las Cruces staff and volunteers will be onsite from 8 a.m.– 1 p.m. this Saturday, Feb. 27 on the stage at the Plaza de Las Cruces for the Las Cruces Farmers and Crafts Market. Residents will be able to get general information and have access to assistance with the online registration process. Registering for a COVID-19 vaccination will help put their name on the list to receive a an appointment for the vaccination as soon as they become available for each individual s vaccine group.

Bills on community solar and air quality permit denials pass committees

Pixabay The state Senate Conservation Committee passed a community solar bill Thursday after a lengthy debate and multiple amendment proposals. Legislators have introduced various community solar bills over the past years, but the newest version of the bill was drafted by a task force that was created during the last session.  Senator Liz Stefanics, D-Cerrillos, presented SB 84, the Community Solar Act, to the committee. The bill would direct the Public Regulation Commission (PRC) to develop and adopt rules to implement a community solar program, in which communities can subscribe to local solar facilities that are established by an anchor tenant. 

Las Cruces Convention Center Serves As Distribution Site for COVID-19 Vaccinations

  The City of Las Cruces and New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) have teamed together to help residents receive the COVID-19 vaccination. The Las Cruces Convention Center, 680 E. University Ave., will be one location where residents can go to get the COVID-19 vaccination. The intent of using the Convention Center was to establish an indoor space, if needed, for inclement weather. The Convention Center will be utilized for several months as Las Cruces and the state move through the phases to get our residents vaccinated. “To combat this disease, we need to get vaccinated. It can save our lives and protect those around us, said Eric Enriquez, Assistant City Manager for the City of Las Cruces. “The City is proud to work with the NMDOH to make it easier for many New Mexicans to get this vaccine as efficiently as possible.”
