LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - The City of Lawton and Lawton Police Officers Association have begun annual negotiations for union contracts for Lawton police officers.
On the table are officersâ salaries, benefits and guidelines.
The Lawton Police Officers Association has submitted a proposal for collective bargaining to the City of Lawton, but as of Tuesday, theyâve yet to receive a counter-offer from the City.
City officials say Lawton police officers have the best pay in Southwest Oklahoma, with a base salary at just under $41,000.

LAWTON, Okla. (TNN) - Across Southwest Oklahoma, many towns and utility crews are dealing with the aftermath of severe winter weather.
The main concern has become water.
Sunday morning, many Lawton residents woke up to low water pressure or none at all. Water demand in the City right now is nearly double what it usually is in the winter.
The Director of Public Utilities Rusty Whisenhunt said residents should be conservative with water until tanks are full again.
The City of Lawton, FISTA Development Trust Authority and the Comanche County Health Department have teamed up to make getting your COVID-19 vaccinations much easier. Starting today (02-22-21) the CCHD (Comanche County Health Department) will be set up in the Central Mall in the old Dillard's location doing COVID-19 vaccinations.
