It is true that Chapter 14 of Indiana Code Title 19, a long-since defunct yet only followed by the City of Muncie piece of Indiana law, states that “A person shall be ineligible to serve as a civilian member of the merit commission if he or she holds any other public office or appointment.” If the matter stopped and started with this stipulation as our mayor has chosen to squarely base his veto the story would be done and finished and I would readily acquiesce. However, the mayor has not presented the majority of facts involved in the proactive ordinance which City Council passed and which he’s vetoed.
Classic car show set for downtown Saturday
MUNCIE Troy Watters, the organizer of the “South Madison Cruise In, in partnership with the City of Muncie and Muncie Downtown Development Partnership, will bring the First DWNTWN Muncie Car Show to the streets of downtown Muncie 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, May 22.
The event will feature classic and hot rod cars lining the streets from Jackson Street to the roundabout and on Charles Street from Mulberry Street to High Street. Car show registration will be 11 a.m.-5 p.m., with awards at 8 p.m. The cost to enter a pre-1980 classic car or traditional hot rod into the show is $10. Dash plaques will be distributed to the first 200 registered. Awards will be given for Top 25, Sponsor’s Choice, and Longest Distance. Show cars enter at Walnut and Adams Street.

MUNCIE, Ind. After years of sitting empty, a nearly-100-year-old garage in downtown Muncie at 213 E. Washington Street has been sold by city officials to a local automotive business looking to expand.
Steve Myers, the owner and operator of Myers Performance Engineering, plans to turn the site into his company’s headquarters, according to a release.
Myers will grow his business and fill in the large space as he does so.
Myers Performance Engineering, which focuses on hot rod construction, is currently based at 1661 S. Nebo Road.
