Taunton police officer who died from COVID-19 laid to rest

Members of the Taunton Police Department came out Tuesday to mourn the loss of one of their own to COVID-19.
Taunton police Patrolman John M. Borges, 48, died Dec. 24 after contracting the coronavirus and becoming ill with COVID-19. According to his obituary on Legacy.com, Borges was born on the island of Terceira, Azores, Portugal and immigrated with his family to the United States when he was 18 months old. Borges went on to graduate from Taunton High School and work for the Taunton Police Department for more than twenty years. He served as a search manager for the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Councils Search and Rescue Team (SEMLEC) as well as a lead trainer for the Massachusetts Emergency
