Mike Zaleski
CAMBRIDGE, Ohio Only one contested election took place in Guernsey County in the May Primary on Tuesday.
Current Councilman Mike Zaleski defeated challenger Samuel Grubbs 82 to 21 for the Republican nomination for the 4th Ward City Council seat in the City of Cambridge.
Zaleski was appointed to the seat as a replacement for Jack Marlin – who resigned after being elected as a Guernsey County Commissioner – and has served since January. Zaleski is a small business owner and is retired from the ODNR with 31 years of service.

Two local groups are making their voices heard to the Norman City Council and advocating different outcomes for a vote on the Norman Police Department budget.
The Norman Collective for Racial Justice, formerly the Norman Citizens for Racial Justice, submitted an open letter to the council and Mayor Breea Clark asking them to uphold their decision from June 16, 2020 to reallocate $865,000 from the NPDâs proposed budget increase to community programs.

3 Arrested in Narcotics Operation
Three individuals are behind bars in Guernsey County facing charges stemming from a narcotics operation.
The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office and the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Taskforce made the arrests Monday after a search of a home in the City of Cambridge.
Officials said 27-year-old Brittany Gardner and 22-year-old Tyson Heskett and another unidentified male were all taken into custody.
Gardner is charged with permitting drug abuse and aggravated possession of drugs. Heskett is charged with two counts of aggravated possession of drugs.
During the search authorities found suspected narcotics including suspected crystal meth and fentanyl along with other drug related items.
