PHOENIX â Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, most events and celebrations are virtual, but celebrations to honor and remember Martin Luther King, Jr. are happening around the Valley.

Tempe s Diversity Awards
The City of Tempe will host its annual Diversity Awards on Friday, Jan. 15 at 1:30 p.m. Mayor Corey Woods will also deliver the keynote for that ceremony. It will be shown on the City of Tempe Facebook page and on Tempe 11. More information.
MLK Day of Service: Make it a day on, not a day off

Jan. 18, 2021, marks the 26th anniversary of the day of service that celebrates the
Civil Rights leader’s life and legacy.
Observed each year on the third Monday in January as “a day on, not a day off,” MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
While we might not gather in the numbers we usually do,

PHOENIX â The Arizona Department of Health Services reported the fewest number of available ICU beds statewide Thursday since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the state s coronavirus dashboard, 140, or 8%, of ICU beds remain available statewide. However, where those beds are located is information that has not been released publicly by the state.
ABC15 continues to hear from health officials and frontline workers who say there are few - if any - available ICU beds at their facilities. Detailed information on where some available beds are located is seemingly easier to obtain at the local level than the state level, despite the information being reported to the Department of Health Services.
