The City of Oxford has taken a unique approach to help make sure its eligible residents can get the COVID-19 vaccine.
For the past week, the pilot program that Assistant City Manager Jessica Greene refers to as the Get on the Bus Initiative has been an overwhelming success, as hundreds of calls are coming in daily to a hotline set-up by the city to help residents get vaccinated. Since the vaccine started being released, we would get calls in the city manager s office from elderly residents and from those in marginalized communities who were confused or they didn t know how to navigate all of these websites and they just wanted to get the vaccine, Greene said.
