MADISON, Wis. (WKBT) The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation will award $10,000 to the group that offers the best idea to the Wisconsin Main Street Downtown Pitch Contest.
“Small businesses anchor our downtowns,” said Missy Hughes, secretary and CEO of WEDC. “These businesses and their owners and employees draw neighbors downtown and create the energy and vitality of downtown districts throughout the state.”
The pitch contest is open to Wisconsin residents 18 and older with a for-profit business idea located (or planned to be located) in a community that is part of either the Wisconsin Main Street Program which includes Downtown Main Street in La Crosse or the Connect Communities Program. Both existing and planned businesses are eligible, although businesses must be open and investments made no later than Dec. 31.
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) The Children’s Museum of La Crosse will reopen on June 3 with only pre-scheduled visits, although the facility will host sidewalk activities this weekend as part of Downtown Mainstreet’s Spring Fever event.
The museum, at 207 5th Ave. S., will have a 30% off sidewalk sale of fun shop items from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Also Saturday, the museum will host free kindness rock paintings outside from 1 to 3 p.m.
The June 3 reopening, after the museum’s extended COVID-19 hiatus, will be only via online reservations at the museum’s website. https://www.funmuseum.org/
