As COVID-19 cases continue to rise statewide, some Sanford restaurant owners fear a second shutdown, Kelli Laudate, executive director of Downtown Sanford, Inc., said Wednesday.
âWhen you look to our restaurants, (the pandemic) has definitely hit them harder, for sure,â Laudate said. âThis new stimulus package will help, especially through January and February, because things do not look like theyâre moving in a positive direction.â
The new stimulus package is a $900 billion COVID-19 relief package passed by Congress this week which may be the answer for some struggling businesses.
The package gives more money to the paycheck protection program, which allows businesses to keep employees on payroll; and the economic injury disaster loan, which provides financial relief to businesses that have a temporary loss of revenue, according to Meg Moss, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce.
