5 arrested in Rs 1 crore loot case in city | Ranchi News

Ranchi: Police on Saturday arrested five of six persons involved in the looting of Rs 1 crore from a trader and his associates at gunpoint on April 12 and recovered Rs 73.59 lakh of the looted amount from them. The arrested persons are identified as Manoj Bhagat, Anmol Singhania, Nazmi Hasan, Wasim Ahmad and Zashim Ahmad. A car and a motorcycle used in the crime along with mobile phones were also seized from the arrested persons. The loot took place on April 12 when the five criminals accosted trader Subham Agrawal along with three others, including his partner Nikesh Mishra, was about to leave for Odisha from his rented house in Obaria road under Jagannathpur police station.

Ranchi: Police have arrested four members of the notorious Sujit Sinha gang for allegedly making extortion calls to traders in Ranchi. The ones who have been arrested are Rintu Singh, Priyanka Kumari Singh, Ankit Pratap Singh and Vikas Singh. Seven mobile phones, debit card, gold chain and aadhaar cards have been seized from them. Ranchi SSP Surindra Jha said on Sunday, “We were receiving reports that members of Sujit Sinha gang were active in different districts of the state and making extortion calls to traders, contractors and land dealers. They were threatening to kill the businessmen if they failed to pay.”

Nine persons detained (Representative image) RANCHI: Nine persons were detained on Monday in connection with the mob-lynching of 27-year-old Mubarak Khan on the city outskirts on Sunday. SP (Ranchi rural) Naushad Alam said, “Even though a large number of people have been named in the FIR, we will make arrests only after having solid evidence.” Notably, Mubarak Khan, a resident of Maheshpur village, was tied to an electric pole and thrashed on charges of stealing bike tyres and batteries on the night intervening Saturday and Sunday at Sirka village under Angara police station. Khan succumbed to injuries before the police arrived.
