At least two luxury liners have big plans for the charming Hue as more tourists are drawn to the city’s scenery and history.
US-based Royal Caribbean International and Hong Kong-based Star Cruises have said they will bring a combined 150,000 foreign tourists to the central city of Hue this year, according to media reports.
“Tourist arrivals in Hue via cruise ships have grown since 2015, when the city’s Chan May Port was upgraded for bigger vessels,” Le Huu Minh, a tourism official, told the Saigon Times.

Party General Secretary to attend CPC’s summit
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong
General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong will lead a high-ranking delegation to attend an upcoming summit between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and world political parties.
The Party chief ’s attendance will be made at the invitation of the CPC Central Committee.
The virtual summit is slated for July 6.

Vientiane capital of Laos on June 25 handed over 30,000 USD to the Embassy of Vietnam to help authorities and people of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City fight
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Secretary of the Vientiane Party Committee Anouphap Tounalom affirmed the Lao capital city’s special relations with Hanoi and HCM City, voicing his belief that the two cities will soon surmount hardships caused by COVID-19 to stabilise the life and restore production for socio-economic development.
The assistance was raised by Vientiane authorities and people, along with the Vietnamese community and firms operating in the city, he added.
