News Monday 12th April 2021 Minister Harris launches national staff and student surveys on sexual violence and sexual harassment in Higher Education Institutions    A ground-breaking survey into staff and student experiences of sexual violence and sexual harassment in Irish Higher Education Institutions is being launched today (April 12) by Simon Harris T.D., Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.   The survey, which will begin today and will be conducted by the Higher Education Authority, will be sent to every student and staff member by their Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). There are over 30,000 staff and 235,000 students in higher education.

Mrs World title Drama: Pushpika voices out at the media conference

Tuesday, 06 April 2021 - 18:27 The twist and turns of the Mrs World pageant held on Sunday continues and to add another twist in this drama Pushpika de Silva holding a media conference today stated that she will take on the issue of divorcees contesting at the pageant to the world body. However she also dropped a bombshell stating that she will pursue a political career and had also attempted to contest the Parliamentary elections from the Polonnaruwa District last time but she was not given nominations.  She stated that she has an intention of entering politics in the future. She further state that she will carry on her struggle as a single mother and stand in solidarity with them.

Monday, 05 April 2021 - 10:21 The Mrs. Sri Lanka pageant held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre last night for the Mrs World contest ended in a major controversy with scense unseen in the hsitory of the pagent in Sri Lanka. Former Miss Sri Lanka Pushpika De Silva was announced as Mrs. Sri Lanka 2021, but moments later her she was dethroned with the accusation that she was not fit to hold the crown as she was a divorcee. Hirunews contacted Pushpika to find out her side of the story, since she walked off stage immediately once her crown was removed by Mrs World Caroline Jurie.
